eConnect Workshop
Parents of home school students are invited to attend an eConnect workshop on December 1, 2009 at 7:30 pm. For more information view our flyer or call Colette Speca at the Faith Formation Office, 724.941.9587.
Home School Guidelines for Faith Formation
- Atmosphere
- Establish a weekly routine meeting at the same time and same place
- Plan to spend 1 hour per lesson
- Choose a quiet time and location
- Set up a prayerful environment: a lit candle, a Bible and a cross
- Lessons
- Follow the grade level syllabus which indicates the order of lessons and the liturgical seasons material (K-8 syllabi is available on our web site—Grades K-6 and Grades 7 and 8)
- Begin weekly lesson with prayer: may review and pray the traditional prayers, follow the prayer service at the end of each chapter, or read the Sunday gospel and ask “what do you think Jesus is trying to teach us in this gospel?”
- Complete chapter activities and reviews
- Complete Unit Reviews (see the links to the right for each grade level) and email to: stbeneformation@yahoo.com.
- Refer to Catechetical Curriculum Guidelines available in Faith Formation Office
- Parish Life
- Stay connected to parish life by participation at Sunday Mass
- Participate in at least 5 events on the Faith Builders listed below
- Participate in other parish events
- Partner with the Faith Formation Office for additional resources and/or materials

- “Saints” Family Faith Day (November 1 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm)
- “Advent” Family Faith Day (November 21 @ 12:00 Noon – 2:30 p.m.)

- Breakfast/Visit to Bethlehem (December 12)
- Advent Penance Service
- Church Decorating Day (December 22)
- “Mardi Gras” Family Faith Evening (February 16 @ 6:00-8:00 p.m.)
- Parish Lenten Mission with Frank Runyeon (March 22-24)
- Passion Play (March 26 or 27)
- Lenten Penance Service
- Middle School Faith Rally (Diocesan sponsored, Grades 6-8)
- “Silver Ring Thing” (Diocesan sponsored, Grade 8 only)
End of Unit Reviews
At the end of each unit, the student should complete the Unt Review. Click on the link below for the appropriate grade level, then choose the unit that the student has completed. When the student finishes the review, click on the Submit button at the bottom of the page. The review will be automatically sent to the Faith Formation office.
