Confirmation
We will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation on November 8, 2008 at 11:00 am with Bishop Bradley presiding.
Confirmation Practice
Confirmation rehearsal will be held on Thursday evening, November 6 at 7:00 pm.
All candidates must attend with one adult, either a parent or their sponsor and should meet in O'Brien Hall. We will practice processing into the church, and Fr. Sam will speak to the group. Then, we will rehearse the ritual with some of the candidates. Practice will last about one hour.
In the Pittsburgh diocese, those who were baptized or received into the Latin rite of the Catholic Church as infants are to be led to the sacrament of Confirmation normally when they reach the 8th grade. The age of confirmation can be extended to the 9th grade at the discretion of the pastor.
Here at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, Confirmation is celebrated in the first semester of 9th grade. Candidates must successfully complete the 7th and 8th grade religious education program and attend the pre-confirmation classes.
